Sharing

I may regret doing this, but I’m willing to take the risk. Please don’t make me regret it!

What prompted this particular topic? I get a number of requests from people who want to know if/when I will be doing a clinic or seminar in their country or in their general region. Some of them ask to be placed on a contact list if I am coming to their part of the world, and some are even interested in organizing a clinic.

Unfortunately, one of the problems for organizers is knowing if there are enough interested people in their area to warrant a clinic. That is usually because the person inquiring about a clinic has a specialized interest when it comes to either discipline or breed. It could be that the dressage aficionado is unaware that there are several barrel racers nearby who are interested in attending a clinic. Maybe the Thoroughbred breeders are unaware of the number of Pony Clubbers in their horsey neighborhood. And so on.

I am neither breed nor discipline specific, even though I create specialized and audience-specific presentations. So…

What if there was a possibility of sharing resources and having more than one presentation in order to have them as audience-specific as desired?

If someone is interested in having me do a presentation near their locale, I could collect their contact information and, if they were willing to share that info, I could put them in touch with other interested participants or organizers close to them.

Maybe combining forces – and contacts – could mean the difference between actually having a clinic in your region and just wishing there was one.

Please let me know what you think of the general premise…gently.

And, if you are so inclined, kindly email me the following information:

Phone:
Location:
Distance willing to travel:
Disciplines/breeds:
Interest in organizing (alone or in combination):
Willingness to share this information with others in your area:

Thank you and I look forward to meeting more of you in person!

Good suggestion! I hope many who are fans of your presentations or who would like the opportunity to participate in an amazingly educational event will hop on the band wagon and provide their (sharable) contact info.

        H Judy –
I spoke with you a few weeks ago and would love to host you at a clinic at our Farm in NW Washington State, I think we were talking about the latter part of August. If you have any interest please let me know, I think it would be a fabulous opportunity for every horse person I know to learn a lot more about training, riding, and evaluating their horses.

I think that is a GREAT idea and would benefit us all! That is exactly what I intend to do, contact local trainers/barns to see if we can ALL get together so that we can have the honor of meeting you and educating ourselves!

    Hi Judy,

Just leaving a comment here so you include me in any lists you’re making. You already have the information you’ve requested. I left a voicemail today for Dr. Quirk (Texas Racing Commission Chief Veterinarian) and will follow up with him tomorrow.

I spoke briefly with Michael Dickinson today, but he was traveling and we had a really poor connection, so hopefully he will phone back as soon as he can.

After I talk to Ken and Michael I’ll call T. (Dr. Theresa Dwyer, DVM in Salado, TX). She has a huge equine practice north of Austin so I believe she will be interested and know many others who do, too.

I’m happy to coordinate with anyone interested in bringing you to the U.S. and also give them assistance and tips for marketing. I’ve been working on Internet and social media marketing almost exclusively since 2003 and can use my reach to help them spread the word.

        Hi Sonia,

We should talk about dates and venues. Give me a call ayc or message me on Skype? 469-735-2108 Skype username growmap

P.S. for Judy – Michael called this morning and I told him all about you. Suggested he check out your books. He wants to know about picking yearlings – and he may mean the first week of Keeneland September as I know he attends then.

He does not train any more – he focuses on selling Tapeta – but he knows owners and trainers who buy at that level.

Ken called me back today. He said he wanted to run this by someone in the Dallas area and will get back to me. (For the others here who may not know, Ken is Dr. Ken Quirk, Texas Chief Veterinarian for the Texas Racing Commission. He is a personal friend, super person, and excellent breeding Vet.)

Sent details and your URL to Candace (referred by Ken) and also to Dr. T. Candace is near Dallas and is checking around to see who wants private evaluations and whether there is enough interest to put together an event on short notice. I’ll let you know.

Last I talked to Sonia they were putting together a group for Houston. I’ll be in touch.

It appears as if I may be in Texas and Louisiana from about June 20th to July 1st. If anyone is interested in a clinic or private evaluations during that time frame, please let me know.

Also, for the folks down under, there is some interest in me making that journey – racing and/or sport. If you are interested in attending a clinic or seminar or in organizing such things, please advise.

          Thanks!
