Attention Horse Enthusiasts in Australia (or those willing to travel there):

One of my Australian clients is trying to find out if there is enough interest in my work on the functional aspects of equine conformation to warrant bringing me over to do educational clinics/seminars during the first two weeks of December. 2019.

The client has seen me speak twice and has had me evaluate one of his horses. He says, “She has incredible knowledge and her clinics are eye-opening.”

Here’s what he would like to know in order to gauge the viability of my journey to Aus:

1. Would you attend one of my clinics if it was priced at around $140?
Clinics lasts about 3 hours and may possibly be followed by a hands-on session. Ideally he will try to arrange a few horses nearby for a hands-on demo after the theory.

2. In which city/state would you prefer to attend?

3. If the clinics run 3-4 hours, would you be able to able to attend
– during the week 2pm-6pm?
– during the week 5:30pm – 9pm?
– Saturday morning 9am-1pm?

4. Do you know others who would be interested in attending a clinic? How many others?

5. Are the first 2 weeks of December suitable or perhaps early January (nearer TB sale time) or maybe both?

6. What discipline(s) are you interested in – TB racing, English, Western or general athleticism and soundness?

We look forward to any feedback or suggestions, even if you respond that you are not interested, that is helpful.

Please contact me through this website.

And, thank you!

From KY to OK, TX and FL

My time in Kentucky ended after taking conformation photos of Triple Crown winner, Justify.

Now in Oklahoma, where I will do some private work, before meeting up with two-time World Champion, Lynn McKenzie, at the Barrel Horse Futurities in Oklahoma City on December 4th. If you are a barrel racer and want to meet me there, just let me know, as I can either meet you on the 4th or return another day.

Following Oklahoma, I will be doing some work for barrel racers, eventers and breeders in the Tyler and Dallas/Fort Worth areas of Texas for a week or so, starting December 10th.

And then, if you will be in the Ocala, Florida area, I will be doing a Sporthorse Clinic at Canterbury Showplace on December 29 & 30.

Register early! (If sufficient registrations are not received by December 14th, I will not be going to Florida.)

It is nice to be appreciated.

Today I received two compliments – one via email and one as a comment on this site and both were unsolicited. I was also informed that another individual recommended one of my books to a noted trainer.

1 – I have learned a great deal from you and your books, and I am no longer navigating the stormy waters of horse purchasing without an excellent compass! Thank you so much for your practical physics and math based approach to functional conformation. Knowledge is power!

2 – I learned from the clinic I took with you that like all living things we are all built with certain strengths and weaknesses. All one has to do is look at the worlds better long distance runners. They are lean and have very long legs, (thighs). It is not usual to see the short dumpy people in these events. Nor is it usual to see those in the racing world doing well in weight lifting. I look forward to taking another clinic with you.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write to me regarding your views. And thank you for recommending my work to others.

A Blip or Two

Sorry to have been so long between posts on this site, but I had to deal with some health irregularities. Happily, they have been remedied and I am now working my way back to the norm…ok…my norm, whatever that is.

In the interim, I’m glad to report that book sales have been moving along with sales to clients in Germany, South Africa, Australia, Ireland, Canada and the United States in the last few months. And I also did some online evaluations – pre-purchase advice, breeding recommendations, etc. – for clients in a few different countries.

The Future

There’s talk of a clinic/seminar near Temecula in Riverside County in California in the coming months, so stay tuned for specific dates. The organizers are thinking sooner rather than later.

If interested in attending as an observer and/or as a participant, please express your interest by the end of February, and please include your discipline(s) of interest.

The agenda is not yet set, but there is a possibly of a mixed session (various breeds and disciplines) on Saturday and a dressage-specific session on Sunday. So far the audience is likely to include jousters, eventers, barrel racers, dressage riders and trainers.

Who knows? If this one is well received, perhaps we can do another in late October or early November when I am in the general area covering the Breeders’ Cup horse races at Santa Anita.

In the meantime, I will continue to give some thought to the next e-book. I’m leaning towards doing one on Athleticism, Soundness and Longevity that is not breed or discipline specific.

What say you?

Sharing

I may regret doing this, but I’m willing to take the risk. Please don’t make me regret it!

What prompted this particular topic? I get a number of requests from people who want to know if/when I will be doing a clinic or seminar in their country or in their general region. Some of them ask to be placed on a contact list if I am coming to their part of the world, and some are even interested in organizing a clinic.

Unfortunately, one of the problems for organizers is knowing if there are enough interested people in their area to warrant a clinic. That is usually because the person inquiring about a clinic has a specialized interest when it comes to either discipline or breed. It could be that the dressage aficionado is unaware that there are several barrel racers nearby who are interested in attending a clinic. Maybe the Thoroughbred breeders are unaware of the number of Pony Clubbers in their horsey neighborhood. And so on.

I am neither breed nor discipline specific, even though I create specialized and audience-specific presentations. So…

What if there was a possibility of sharing resources and having more than one presentation in order to have them as audience-specific as desired?

If someone is interested in having me do a presentation near their locale, I could collect their contact information and, if they were willing to share that info, I could put them in touch with other interested participants or organizers close to them.

Maybe combining forces – and contacts – could mean the difference between actually having a clinic in your region and just wishing there was one.

Please let me know what you think of the general premise…gently.
