Here’s what I was thinking for a fun and educational project while we see our way through these interesting times:
- Me posting photos of horses (likely in groups of three or four) to start
- Letting the readers post critiques of them
- Critiques to include athleticism, soundness and perhaps even discipline or specialties
- I can post the mechanical requirements of specific disciplines where the photos are limited to that discipline, but, to start, we can look primarily at soundness and athleticism
- All opinions must be explained
- Depending on response, posting my analyses of the horses as well as their performance records, soundness/longevity and perhaps specialty approximately a week or two later
- Points can be awarded for accuracy and the winner at the end of the series will get a free e-book of their choice
What do you think of the idea, and which disciplines do you want to see featured?
I apologize for the delay, but am not in a place where the signal is strong. Patience. I will be moving soon. Thanks.
That would be fun!!
Oh this sounds like an awesome idea.
Barrel/ pole horses are the ones I’m personally the most interested in seeing in this exercise.
This sounds interesting & educational. Since attending a couple of your clinics, I now look at horses very differently with regard to conformation. Would enjoy a chance to improve my assessment skills even more.
interesting idea…yes
Those of us who follow the t-bred sport haven’t seen many champions racing for some time. While i don’t think i could spot a barrel racing champion i think it would be challenging to guess what each of three pictured t-bred would excel at; going short or long or on the turf and stating why i think so

It’s all in the conformation of the stifle femur area.
Thanks for the comment, but I don’t believe it is all about any one area of conformation.
Yes!!!
Would be awesome! I try to emulate your system and need verification plus learning is an ongoing process.
That would be fun! I breed Connemara ponies and use them for lower level Eventing. Would love to send some photos to be critiqued.
This idea is great. We can exchange with one another, and learn at the same time.
Cannot wait to have this one.
